ATEEZ brought The Expedition Tour to Australia this week, performing in Melbourne and Sydney. We were there for the Sydney show held at Big Top Sydney on Sunday 11 August, and it was a not-to-be-missed experience for K-pop fans!
The 8-member boy group were non-stop energy from the second they stepped out on stage to their final encore farewell. We’re still reliving it in our minds, so here’s some of the things that blew us away at ATEEZ’s show.
1. Infinite energy
ATEEZ aren’t called monster rookies without reason: these boys have energy like you couldn’t believe, until you see it with your own eyes. They perform with every ounce of their beings, putting it all out there for almost three hours. From perfect dance performances to cute crowd interactions and so much more, their enthusiasm was contagious and time seemed to fly by in their presence.
2. Their connection with fans
As much as ATEEZ gave their all while performing, they also took plenty of time to interact with fans. Whether it was Yunho convincing everyone to shout out “Aussie, Aussie, Aussie – Oy! Oy! Oy!”, or sharing their feelings about coming to Australia for the first time, they made an effort to connect with all the ATINYs present, from the front row to the second floor.
We even got to sing a special Happy Birthday to Mingi, as the boys presented him with a cake and candles to blow out; and they answered some fan-sent tweets!
3. Yes, they are incredible dancers live
It’s pretty well-known that ATEEZ went viral before debut thanks to a dance performance video that showed off both their impeccable skills and their cheeky personalities. So naturally we were all anticipating their dancing live, and WOW did they blow us away. Every single movement seemed natural but somehow perfectly placed, and the group energy while dancing was off the charts.
Just watching the final dance break for “Hala Hala” when San took the centre in pure elegance and fire was something we won’t be forgetting anytime soon.
Let’s not forget their Random Play Dance where they nailed a bunch of K-pop covers including EXO’s “Ko Ko Bop”.
4. Vocals. On. Point.
Whether it was Hongjoong‘s super speedy raps or Jongho hitting the extended high notes time and time again, the vocal game was strong with ATEEZ this night. They each have unique elements to their voices which when brought together make for a harmonious, even stronger core. Whether it was growling through “Pirate King” or serenading us sweetly with “Dancing Like Butterfly Wings”, you couldn’t help but fall in love with their voices.
The audience was so hyped and it made for a charged atmosphere. There were decorated headbands, ATEEZ hoodies and lightsticks all around us, and the crowd sang along to the songs as loudly as they possibly could. You could truly feel the love in the room and it was all thanks to ATINYs!
