The actor did not issue additional appeals against his sentence

Korean actor Son Seung Won‘s prison sentence for driving under the influence without a license has been confirmed, after no additional appeals were filed.

Son Seung Won appealed the sentence when it was originally given after his first trial, presenting 10 letters of apology and asking for leniency due to his panic disorder. In August, the courts chose to uphold the original sentence. Since the actor did not file another appeal within seven days following the court’s ruling, the sentence is considered confirmed according to South Korean law.

Due to the length of the prison sentence, Son Seung Won will be disqualified from military service.

The actor was given the sentence for two incidents involving drunk-driving. The first in August 2018 involved him crashing into a taxi while driving under the influence. His license was revoked and during that time he drove under the influence again.

Son Seung Won is best known for his role in 2018 K-drama Welcome to Waikiki, and also had roles in dramas such as Hello, My Twenties! and its sequel, Person Who Gives Happiness and Hello Monster.
