So Simon Cowell, the guy with the unnaturally white smile who’s probably best known for sitting on music survival show judging panels, has made an enemy out of the entire K-pop fan community with some recent comments.

The man behind boy bands like One Direction, Westlife and CNCO, gave an interview to UK publication The Sun to publicise his new show X Factor The Band, in which he claimed: “K-pop is ruling the world. This is a show to find a band to launch UK-pop. It’s more than winning a record contract, it’s starting a new music wave”

In unsurprising news, this very imperialistic take on K-pop hasn’t gone down well with K-pop fans, and true to form, the memes have been delicious in response.

Please enjoy a fine selection of retorts from some very done K-pop fans.

Ah truly, where would we be without the memes.

What are your thoughts on Simon Cowell’s announcement?
