CNBLUE‘s Lee Jong Hyun has officially announced his departure from the band.
The idol is currently completing his military service, but in March 2019 was reported as one of the people to have received sexual videos of women from Jung Joon Young in private KakaoTalk conversations. He apologised at the time and stated he would self-reflect on his actions.
On August 28 he made the news again for direct messages sent to YouTuber Park Min Jung via Instagram where he said he enjoyed watching her YouTube videos, including a message that read: “Your belly fat is so cute”. The YouTuber shared the messages online, after which he deleted his Instagram.
Following this, FNC Entertainment issued a statement written by the idol announcing his departure from CNBLUE and apologising for his behaviour. He said:
“I feel sorry that I have caused harm for the members, and I have told the members as well that I am withdrawing. I am ashamed to have disappointed the fans who believed in me”.
He also expressed regret for his actions, stating:
“I feel great regret over my wrongdoing and I am willing to accept criticism from many people. I’m sorry for evoking criticism over a shameful matter”.
All of CNBLUE are currently in the military, and it remains to be seen what formation of the band will return once they complete their service.
